Design Internship
Escents Aromatherapy
Escents Aromatherapy provides natural essentials for the body, mind and home, with unique industry-leading scent selections, along with the first-to-market custom blending experience.
I worked at Escents as a design intern for six months. My main role was creating signages for both in-stores & websites, as well as producing visual media for their other products. I also managed their web platforms, including their website and social media, while simultaneously promoting new products. During this job, I worked cohesively with two senior designers, other in-house departments, marketing agencies, and printing companies.

Understand the target audiences & Increase the brand awareness by creating compelling design works.
Throughout the discussions with senior designers and other departments, we all agreed that we needed to increase brand awareness and create distinction between other competitors. Since our target consumers were mid-aged females who were interested in organic products, I tried to produce a clean and minimalistic look and keep the branding consistent. I worked closely with store managers and sales departments to achieve these goals.
Engage with the customers and find out what people are saying about the business.
I started off with updating the website footer since we tried to increase online traffic, including international markets. All the links and pages were very long and disorganized at first. I updated each section by reducing the amount of texts, as well as adding photos and infographics accordingly.
Social Medias were one of our main marketing tools. Instagram, Facebook, and Google My Business were the main accounts. I was in charge of updating each of these accounts with new promotions and product launches. Also, I sent eblast out using Mailchimp, (an email marketing platform), which was one of our main methods that brought customers in.
Establish the brand's identity—Imagery is an indispensable part of the brand and how we communicate to the public.
Taking product photos was one of my main roles at Escents. The team wanted to create a minimalistic look, but make it attention grabbing at the same time. To accomplish this, I used static composition with a variety of clean solid colors as a background. I also created some short clips on different types of products to deliver the product knowledge to the customers. To match with the branding, all the clips were edited with calm background music along with minimal typography and effects.
